Here are some great ideas for authentic foods to serve up at your Fiesta party. After all, who needs jelly and ice cream?

Why not rustle up some nachos covered in tomato chilli sauce and melted cheese? They're nice and easy to do, all you need to do is pick up the ingredients at the shops!

Or, tortillas instead? Again, these can be bought in shops and loaded up with whatever filling takes your fancy. What about cheese and salad, or chicken and spicy ketchup!

Or you could use guacamole. It's an avocado dip that you can buy from the shops, or have a bash at making yourself. If you fancy having a go, here's what you'll need:

2 ripe avocados
1 ripe tomato - chopped finely
1 clove of garlic - crushed
the juice of half a lemon
3 tablespoons of sour cream
a dash of tabasco sauce
salt and pepper

First of all, scoop out the avocado flesh into a bowl and mash it well using a fork. Then mix in the sour cream, lemon juice and tabasco sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Accompany with vegetable sticks for a crunchy (and healthy) alternative.

Or, if all these savoury dips are beyond you and you fancy something sweet instead, why not make a themed sponge cake?

All you need to do is get the shape you need, then decorate it using coloured marzipan or fondant icing. You'll be able to find recipes for these really easy - most cookbooks will include them. Look in magazines or on the internet for ideas. How about a desert (or should that be dessert?) scene or this sombrero hat?

Either way: delicious!
