They're all the rage, and everyone's wearing them! Pop stars, film stars - even Stephen and Fearne!

So what are they?

They're friendship bracelets - very cool and to make one, all you've got to do is get plaiting!
If you fancy having a go, you're going to need some coloured thread, a cushion and a safety pin.

Get about three different colours of thread, and take three strands of each.

Gather them up and tie a knot in one end.
As you finish the knot, thread the point of the safety pin through.

Then attach the pin to a cushion...

...remember to check with the owner of the cushion first!
If you’re not sure how to plait, just pass the leftmost thread over the middle one, followed by the right strand over the middle one.

Then repeat.

Try to keep the threads tight!
When you've plaited about twenty centimetres, tie a tight knot in the loose end.

Then carefully take the safety pin out of the cushion, and out of the knot.
And that's the bracelet completed!

So - the next step is tying the bracelet onto your wrist.

It's tricky, so get a friend to help.
So once you've got the hang of it, why not experiment?

Check these out - you could try combining three plaits (top), adding beads to some of the threads (middle) or with lots of thread (bottom).
So that's it. Nice and simple.

But the best thing about these friendship bracelets is that you can give them to your mates.

Stephen's obviously got loads!
